Reunion Metro District Town Hall to Present Refinance and Tax Cut Proposal
Dear Reunion Community Members,
Please plan to join the Reunion Metropolitan District Board of Directors on Wednesday, October 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for a Town Hall meeting. The Town Hall will be at the Reunion Recreation Center, 17910 Parkside Drive N.
RMD will present details and answer questions about its proposal to consolidate and refinance existing debt, lower taxes, cut costs, and settle the costly lawsuit between RMD and North Range Metro District Nos. 1, 2 and 3.
The proposal that will be formally shared with the community next Wednesday:
- Could save up to $1,400 every year for the average home in Reunion (based on an approximate $564,000 home valuation)
- Cuts the total North Range Districts’ mill levy by about 43%—from 97.8 mills to 55.7 mills
- Reduces debt by about $16.9 million across RMD and the North Range Districts
- Only refinances the existing debt—does not include new/additional financing or reimbursements to the developer
- Ends the multi-year litigation
- Eliminates about $1.8 million in annual overhead, mostly litigation costs
- Encourages new commercial development, broadening the tax base and easing the burden on homeowners, while bringing additional needed services to the community
These are real savings for families across our community and real benefits for the future of Reunion. Unfortunately, the North Range District Boards rejected RMD’s proposal.
Please plan to attend next Wednesday evening if you want to learn more about this proposal to reduce your taxes and end the lengthy and costly lawsuit.
The meeting will be recorded and RMD is planning to have a livestream. Further details about the livestream will be shared closer to the Town Hall.
Sincerely,
Reunion Metropolitan District Board of Directors
